Job Description



Our client is a medical devices company whose products help patients heal better. They have a comprehensive range of medical solutions supported by a large body of clinical evidence, many of which are manufactured at their location in Gargrave. This is a temporary role delivering the testing across several projects.


What you’ll do:


This role will competently conduct laboratory based analytical testing for projects in line with agreed business targets and priorities.

Input into and carry out test method development and validation when required. Core techniques used at HPLC, GC, wet chemistry.


Assist in Technical laboratory based investigations as required for specific projects.

Complete and maintain laboratory notebooks and files to ensure compliance with internal and external Quality Systems – E.g. Lab book audit schedule, archiving practice.

Conduct good laboratory practice (GLP) including calibration activities, stability files & ordering of material as appropriate.


Take individual responsibility and work independently for assigned work. Making effective use of own resource and time by effective planning in co-ordination with time scales defined by project team / direct line manager.


Gain a sound knowledge and understanding of the products and processes associated with assigned projects.


Plan, identify and organise in advance workload and priorities providing accurate lead times.

Comply with site Health and Safety procedures.


We are seeking the following qualities / attainments


Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant scientific subject. Chemistry preferred but not essential.

Demonstration of appropriate level of knowledge, ability and experience – particularly in a range of analytical techniques.

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a lab-based role. Within medical devices or pharmaceutical industries would be beneficial.


You will be an individual who has competencies in working in teams, acting with a strong level of integrity, with a sense of urgency and proactivity. Our clients demand of this role can be prone to change and we are keen for individuals who deal well with ambiguity, maximising the opportunities this presents. This is a commercial role and a good financial and business awareness is also useful.
