We are working with a multinational client in Manchester who require a Synthesis Chemist to work in research and development. This role will be centred on synthesis chemistry and work in support of synthesis chemists in carrying on bench chemistry in organic chemistry at mg/g scale.
What you’ll do
This is a synthesis chemistry role. You will be undertaking chemical projects received by our client and working with team leaders and colleagues, who will be for the most part PhD level chemists, to ensure these projects run to plan.
The bench activities will be synthesis chemistry so milligram to gram scale synthesis, and practical organic chemistry experiments as directed by Project Chemists. This will involve planning and running reactions and ensuring these occur within time and budget plans.
You will be maintaining accurate records and working closely with colleagues so constant communication will be key as well as good record keeping. You will be liaising with colleagues across the site and the company is a very open and friendly place, you’ll probably interact with analytical and QC regularly so accurate communication and working at a good pace, will be key.
You will be either qualified through experience of the above, or a graduate in Chemistry qualified to BSc / MChem level with experience in industrial chemistry. This can be from a year in industry / sponsored project.
