Senior Technical Services & Development Technician – Silica Catalysts

We are seeking a candidate with experience of silica technology ideally or a very closely aligned skill set to the instruments and techniques used in our client’s lab. This is a development role working on catalysts and will support new products, applications testing and customer service support for manufactured silica products throughout Europe. Specifically, speciality inorganic chemicals, catalysts and engineering glass products.
What you’ll do
This laboratory handles 10 to 20 development projects continuously alongside further 10+ ad-hoc projects per month. Each will call for technical knowledge of silica based catalyst supports for the polymerisation process and chrome-on-silica based catalysts for polymerisation knowledge. This will include practical skills for the laboratory and pilot plant work in those specific areas, and the specialist chemical or physical analysis knowledge as appropriate. This role will liaise with senior martials scientists, and provide internal testing support to toll manufacturer and customer trials. You will be working to the ISO and ASTM requirements of the laboratory.
Your background
We are seeking a BSc (or higher) qualified individual who can bring experience of working in a technical capacity, ideally within the areas of silica or catalyst technology (It would be advantageous for applicants to have knowledge of Ziegler Natta and/or Single Site Catalyst chemistries). The laboratory skills including the operation and interpretation of data over experience of 3-5 years technical work is the level we are looking at.
The ability to work on several technical and development projects at once (strong organisation) is a skill we’ll need, in addition to developed time management tools and strong communication.
You’ll be practically capable, confident and happy handling multiple priorities. Some flexibility with relation to working hours with respect to plant trials would be necessary in addition. You will be interacting with colleagues in senior technical, sales and servicing.
