Senior Manufacturing Technician
Contract / Temporary (6 Months to ongoing)
We are working with a multinational client who have a diverse product portfolio, some of which are used in the COVID-19 Pandemic response. They are hiring for a Senior Manufacturing Technician to support this using largely chemistry-based processes. We anticipate this will principally interest candidates who have followed Chemistry or Biochemistry led education pathways. Experience will be naturally advantageous.
What you’ll do:
The team is key to the process of production of testing kits. The overall objective is to product an oligonucleotide which is a core component of a wider detection kit. These have a range of applications once of which is COVID-19 testing. The process by which this is produced is via a benchtop DNA synthesiser, this is where this role comes in, and later on the DNA Oligonucleotide will be added to the medical testing kit. The DNA that is produced must also be Quality Control Checked in line with SOP’s. Again, this will be part of your job.
You will be therefore working on two components. Synthesis and Analysis.
This breaks down to working on synthesis and production as above (using a GE DNA Synthesiser, benchtop based) and then using HPLC to assess the quality and integrity of the products. The methods are well understood. This will be a process of running methods (there is no development or validation required).
You will be responsible for preparation of buffers, calibration and supporting colleagues in their operations in a busy laboratory.
The role will be working in a clean room environment (ISO 5 and ISO 7) in full clean room gowning and also require you to use a respirator.
All work is carried out to GDP standards and the company uses a SAP system.
We are seeking a graduate in Chemistry or a related field, and any experience of working in industry is advantageous. You will be able to follow instructions well, and also have a meticulous approach to administration - the work you will be doing will be going into medical testing.
You will be organised and able to manage workload in a busy environment, good with planning and flexible to work alone or in a team setting. The role will have multiple priorities which will call for time management and communication, this is a team environment where everyone is supporting a common goal and happy to help each other. That said, with some of this work supporting COVID-19 testing there will be deadlines needing adhering to. The client is a multinational business with an outstanding product range and global reputation for quality. They will provide systems, training, and clear procedures with full support to the team to enable you to achieve these goals.
On this occasion, LiCa Scientific is acting as an employment agency.
