Job Description

We are hiring for an analytical chemist to carry out environmental testing of soil using a range of analytical techniques. This will be required for a variety of reasons for example to ensure land planned for use is not contaminated with potentially harmful chemicals when for example planning agricultural or building work or to support clean-up activities for example periodic monitoring after a chemical spill.

What you’ll do:

You will use a range of analytical techniques mainly in gas chromatography variants GC-FID and GCMS. You will be working on a varied workload and providing accurate and reliable test results to internal colleagues to pass onto clients. This role will carry out equipment calibration, train junior analysts, review and write analytical methods in support of continuous improvement agenda, and investigate atypical results. Following training you will be acting as an internal auditor and performing method and system audits.

Your background:

You will be educated in sciences (chemistry / environmental / similar) to HNC/BTEC/equivalent and have built on this grounding by working in analytical testing for a number of years. Experience of method validation will be advantageous.
