What you’ll do
You will be working in a varied analysis role, across XRF, ICP OES, ICP MS, materials analysis (particle sizing, microscopy – SEM, laser diffraction) Providing higher level analytical expertise in support of site QC (Quality Control) activities and specialist equipment operability, with various departments calling upon your expertise and knowledge, deploying over 100 methods. You will provide technical development support. Management of the cGLP (Good Laboratory Practice) activities on site including documentation and training requirements.
We are seeking a strong analytical expertise in the above, and the ability and desire to coach and develop your staff. This role will be a position that others look to for their development. We are seeking someone keen to distribute their knowledge and experience within their team and be a lift to others in their immediate and wider departments, a team player and mentor to others.
Technical support to analytical team and plant laboratories including coaching (problem solving, fire-fighting etc.) and the preparation and delivery of analytical training packages.
Develop specialist analytical knowledge to become internal expert in QC practices and methodologies required for support of site-wide QC activities.
Perform routine and non-routine analyses
Driving cGLP standards – Act as local expert in maintaining best cGLP practices.
Produce required cGLP documentation (SOP’s etc) and regularly review to maintain currency.
Ensure analytical instrumentation is operating safely and any specific instrumental safety issues are adequately covered in risk assessments.

You will be educated to Bachelors level in chemistry, naturally higher qualification is welcome and this will be balanced with circa 5 or more years of experience. This experience will come from a GLP compliant environment ideally in Quality Control. You will possess excellent coaching and development skills. The ability to interpret complex technical data and information, strong GLP understanding, related documentation systems and strong communication skills are essential. Some man management will be beneficial and you will be as strong communicator able to build relationships at various internal levels, with a significant number of external contacts in addition from your networking throughout your career.
