Our client is a manufacturer of fine organic chemicals running a site compliant with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, their products have applications across a range of industries touching most areas of manufacturing. They require a Quality Control (QC) Shift Chemist to work on a nights / days shift pattern. This role attracts a salary of just over £23,000.
What you’ll do
Working on a 12 hour night and day shifts the role will analyse in-process and finished products in a busy laboratory operating on a 24 hour basis. You will be using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Gas Chromatography (GC) as well as automated titrimetric techniques. Additionally you will be required to use viscometer, Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), refractometer, microwave dryers, turbidimeters and Ultra Violet Spectroscopy (UV).
All work is carried out to ISO standards and internal QC standards. Good record keeping and communication will be essential in the successful candidate for detailed handover at the end of each shift.
You will be qualified to BSc in Chemistry or a closely related discipline, and bring experience of a quality control environment. The salary is reflective of the fact this involves late working and applications are encouraged from all experience levels who are interested. Ideally due to this working on a shift basis we prefer any applicant has experience of working shifts or later nights in their career. This can be for example from working in a late opening shop, hospital, bar or similar so the hours are more of a known quantity to you.
