We are hiring for a Quality Control Analytical Chemist for a fine chemicals company.
What you’ll do
This role will be working in QC and development analysis. A large part of the role for the entry level QC Analyst will involve general lab duties and support as required for the department - this can be anything from taking out laboratory waste, general cleaning and tidying, sample and standard preparations etc right through to performing analysis. The role will support the pipeline of research to production scale chemistry and closely liaise with colleagues in synthesis chemistry as well as providing the quality control analytical data following full scale manufacture. You will for example work with a synthetic organic chemist to confirm that a reaction has produced the required chemical and check for impurities after the reaction has completed, or be working with the production plant to check periodic samples before the company’s products leave the site. Mainly this will be carried out using the laboratory techniques HPLC, GC and NMR.
We are keen to receive applications from individuals qualified to degree level in chemistry, who can demonstrate achievements working in a pharmaceutical or fine chemicals laboratory. You will be a good team player and able to support the team - getting stuck in to tasks as and when required, often working to deadlines, with efficient and accurate analysis. We are seeking good communication and time management skills. Ideally you will have worked for some time in industry (at least 6 months) or as part of an industrial placement and have experienced a similar role and be seeking a move with progression and opportunities to develop you further as a scientist with on the job training as required. Experience with GC-FID, GC-MS, HPLC or LCMS would be advantageous - use of, troubleshooting and general maintenance.
