We are hiring for a junior day shift chemist to train and develop into a competent shift chemist, supervising teams of process operators in a chemical plant.
What you’ll do
You will be learning how to prepare batch sheets, to learn how to prepare batch sheets process/chemical risk assessments for processes ready for plant production. Working closely with the shift chemists and senior operators and learning how the plant works and operates to ultimately successfully manage/supervise a team.
You will be working and operating in a safe manner understanding safety procedures for the plant, able to identify any potential issues for processes bound for plant and resolve them with the relevant people. You will work closely with the waste team and learn how the systems work in taking waste off site and become familiar with all the regular processes on plant and learn what is required from the shift chemist for each process.
To undertake the essential responsibilities of the shift/chemists and operator technicians when annual leave is present.
This role begin on a day shift basis with a possible opportunity for progression in years to come to the shift manager role.
You will be a graduate or equivalent in chemistry or a related field, and be experienced in working in a chemical plant environment. You will have a good knowledge of putting robust and safe processes onto plant, and have the communication skills and attention to detail which are essential in this role. A fork lift truck licence would be preferred but is not essential. Finally, we are seeking someone highly motivated with a good work ethic who can work well in a team based environment.
