Job Description
Instrument Laboratory Manager
Manchester
Permanent Opportunity
Competitive salary + package
We are working with an expanding and entrepreneurial company in Manchester, who are seeking a leader to work in the supervision of Senior Scientists. This role will provide oversight and big-picture leadership of the technical activities on site. This will involve both prioritisation and driving collaboration relating to Analytical Chemistry.
What you’ll do:
Our client operates as a contract analytical laboratory and provides testing services in the Liquid, Gas and Inorganics analysis areas. Each of these laboratories have their own individual teams dedicated to one of these three fields.
The person who joins in this role will have the oversight of all of the activities, and at times where for example the same client requires something from Inorganic and something from the GC team, this work will become coordinated and flowing to a good timescale for all so workflow is managed. This avoids a ‘silo-ing’ effect of teams working solely on one category of testing and the Instrument Laboratory Manager will provide this oversight of activities around the company.
You will be working both in a hands-on bench capacity using LC, GC and ICP/IC, Method Development, Validation and providing technical support for analytical chemistry related issues. You will be responsible for meeting targets with a high quality focus, providing quality data and also ownership of activities / accountability for meeting the expectations of the Analytical Chemistry activities in your areas. You will be working on team development, coaching and training of colleagues.
Your background:
We are seeking someone who will have a good background in analytical chemistry and ideally technical expertise in GC, LC and also ICP/IC. You will be seeking a hands-on role that is also strategic, splitting time between the bench and the office.
You will be someone who can work in a high-workload situation while maintaining quality and prioritising activities to avoid bottlenecks or workload spikes/dips as much as possible. This role will fundamentally manage people, resources and communication in the most flowing manner.
On this occasion, LiCa Scientific is acting as an employment agency.
