Permanent role

We are hiring for an experienced toxicologist to work in the assessment, management and interpretation of forensic toxicology casework and the provision of expert witness testimony.

What you’ll do:

This role will work in the management of resources and case exhibits, providing appropriate instructions to analytical toxicology colleagues and reviewing their toxicological findings in the context of the case. This role will provide testimony from these findings, proposing explanations and formulating meaningful conclusions to analytical findings.

The Forensic Toxicologist will be preparing reports, attending court and providing expert witness testimony.

This role will have it’s own caseload and strive to meet compliance targets with report delivery timings in excess of 95% of target. The forensic toxicologist will support the analytical toxicology section where needed and mentor and develop staff.

Your background:

Considerable experience in forensic toxicology interpretation and provision of expert witness testimony in a wide range of evidence types (e.g. homicide, sexual assaults, non-suspicious deaths etc.) is essential.

We are seeking a graduate in chemistry or a related field to toxicology, with experience of (or at the very least a strong awareness of ) LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, HPLC-DAD, HS-GC-FID, and immunoassay.

You will have again experience of or a strong awareness of extractions such as LLE. SPE and PP.

We are seeking a thorough knowledge of the application of toxicology in relation to a range of forensic investigations (i.e. homicide, sexual assault, non suspicious deaths, coronial etc).

Knowledge and experience of alcohol technical calculations and their application to different toxicology case types.

Experience of method development and validation is desirable
