We are hiring for a Chief Technology Officer for a company in the UK. They are part of a PLC and generating a niche technology area which is revolutionary in the field of printing. You will be responsible for leading a growing team of scientists, current size of 10 and report directly to the Chief Executive.
This role will involve dealing with R&D Commercialisation of the technology developed at our client. Responsibilities that come into this will be leadership of the R&D team, controlling budget and taking advantage of commercial opportunities. You will be dealing also with external stakeholders and partners. These may be companies collaborating on technology development or academic partnerships i.e. Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, and regulatory bodies. The ideal candidate will already have good relationships with such organisations. You will be responsible for prosecuting patents of which there are hundreds in the organisation.
We are seeking someone who is a chemist (or related technical experience) by background who has progressed into a role calling for strong commercial acumen and developing commercial differentiation via technology development. This can be in any field of chemistry based development stretching from the consumer goods market to pharmaceuticals and all in between (medical technology, advanced materials development…).
Core to your suitability for this role will be your communication, teamwork and project management skills. This role will prepare and critique R&D projects, and manage an extensive IP portfolio, deliver on key technology milestones, all involving significant investment. It will be the focal point for questions from stakeholders, so other board level experience is advantageous however we are interested to hear from individuals who are feeling ready for a ‘step up’ due to perhaps having similar responsibilities in a current role.
Regarding candidate background we are keen to hear from individuals who are working in the field above but also from semiconductors, coatings, advanced materials development or other areas, especially those generating a lot of IP.
