We are seeking a PhD level Chemist with knowledge and experience of chemical synthesis to work for a business with a diverse product portfolio in the North West.
What you’ll do:
Our client has over 1,500 products in their portfolio covering a diverse array of applications. This role will primarily be responsible for the synthesis of these products, which is kilo scale synthesis chemistry.
Much of the science involved in this is well understood, and what is needed is a chemist who can learn the nuances and opportunities for development within this portfolio. This role will therefore use the experience in the organisation coupled with your own knowledge to produce elegant reactions, preparing for manufacturing on kilo scale (typically 20-100 litres and up to 250 litres). The synthesis will centre on organic dyes, intermediate chemicals, large scale reactions (i.e. reflux, polymerisations, methalation, amination and azeotropic), distillations, solids filtering at large scales and other activities. Some of the chemistry is high value, high hazard, high temperature (or sometimes… all three!).
There are a range of opportunities available within this business for the individual to undertake development, longer term progression and certainly a lot of learning about the hundreds and hundred of products that the business has within it’s various categories. This role has the support of a Lab Technician and a team of Analytical Chemists.
We are seeking a developed skill set in synthesis chemistry, and someone who has knowledge of kilo scale chemistry. You will have a good organic chemistry background and please include details of your understandings of heterocyclic chemistry and polymerisation in the application if you have these as they are of interest (though could also be trained so not essentials). Beyond this we are ideally seeking at the PhD Chemistry/related level for qualification (or otherwise qualified via extensive experience to equivalent knowledge).
To apply: Please email and a cover letter is very welcome highlighting your skills and alignment with this role. We are available at LiCa Scientific to otherwise discuss this anytime.
Please also note, due to this clients fairly remote location in Cheshire you will need to drive though public transport is possible with a cycle for the last miles.
On this occasion, LiCa Scientific is acting as an employment agency.
