PhD chemist with 5 years of experience, who works on benchtop scale via intermediate kilo lab to plant scale chemistry. This involves aspects of calorimetry, thermal hazard analysis, gas emissions, waste management and generally good knowledge of hazards, heat transfer and larger scale process safety.
Chemistry skill set includes:
Process Chemistry – Bringing processes from the lab gram scale to full plant tonne scale and providing support to process startup and existing processes.
Synthetic Organic Chemistry – Significant experience from industry and both degrees at designing and performing synthetic routes, reactions and purification on scales from mg to kg. Analysis of route efficiency, economy, side-products and any potential process hazards.
Physical Chemistry – Extensive kinetic work including monitoring of H/D exchange using 1H NMR, as well as monitoring the kinetics of reactions using 1H and 31P NMR spectroscopy. Additional experience in probing kinetics of a process by EXSY NMR, and determination of activation parameters kinetically.
Analytical Chemistry – A wide range of techniques including extensive use of NMR spectroscopy (1H, 2H, 13C, 19F, 31P), 2D NMR spectroscopy (COSY, HSQC, HMBC, EXSY), GCMS, GC-FID, HPLC, LCMS, High Resolution Mass Spectrometry, Cyclic Voltammetry, Thermal Hazard Analysis, DSC, Ion Chromatography, IR and UV-Visible Spectroscopy
