Works as an associate clinical research outsourcing manager. Finds this isn't completely where he wants to be and that his brain is only working at 20% or so in this job but wants to be in more of a problem solving role.

Happy to relocate to mainland UK or Northern Ireland.

PhD was covering a range of projects, one with a target of gold nanoparticle synthesis using organometallic chemistry to make nanoparticles which would be catalysts and biomedical imaging molecules.

During which he has developed a strong sense of problem solving, hitting problems like starter material availability and forming a way of working where he was simply getting from A-B in an efficient and using-what-he-has as a manner.

He has also worked on ligand synthesis and making metal organic frameworks in another avenue of his PhD, which had potential applications in sensors. The PhD overall was purposed to make a composite to break down precursors measured via NMR, and aligned the rods to make a final application in liquid crystal displays. So the little rods had a few different uses, potentially also hydrogen storage.

The approach was to try ideas out, pass/fail and move on quickly. This would also avoid complex purification steps and therefore as a serendipitous consequence… give a better yield.

Reasons being he had to get to products and by breaking processes down to simpler processes.

He has touched on most reactions in chemistry and feels like this gave him a rounded education in the field. Is immediately avaialble and keen to discuss opportinities on the market.
