Recently completed a PhD in inorganic chemistry, this was a collaborative project to understand the properties of solution precursors to be used for a potential next-generation manufacturing process. This involved developing an understanding of the properties of acid-based zirconium solutions to help explain the final product properties of solid zirconium-based materials. This project also allowed me to develop extensive analytical techniques to probe materials on multiple length scales including SAXS, EXAFS, XRD, X-ray PDF, FTIR, NMR, Raman, UV-Vis & TGA. Also worked with DLS, conductivity and pH measurement instruments. Ran my own synchrotron beamline experiment and assisted with beamline experiments of other students at the Diamond Light Source X-ray synchrotron.
