We are working with a pioneer in sustainable technology via colour change pigment which gives unrivalled reaction to changing trends or legislations, while driving huge efficiencies in the global supply chain.
This role will be working in a groundbreaking area of digital printing and our client is seeking a Junior Development Chemist to join their technical team. This role will give you experience of working alongside experienced researchers while you yourself help to drive the research, industrialisation, and commercialisation of this technology.
What you’ll do:
As a Junior Development Chemist, you will be responsible for the hands-on creation and optimisation of innovative coating formulations.
Formulation Development: Creating via accurate formulations, new aqueous, solvent-based, or UV-flexo coatings utilising the company’s core patent-protected technology.
Raw Material Analysis: Developing a high-level understanding of individual raw materials and their chemical interactions.
Testing & Performance: Evaluating coating performance against rigorous metrics.
Project Delivery: Managing workflows to ensure all technical deadlines and deliverables are met.
QC & Technical Support: Assisting with quality control procedures and providing vital data to the technical services and commercial teams.
Data Interpretation: Recording, analysing, and interpreting complex performance data.
Your background:
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and enthusiastic individual who is seeking a collaborative laboratory environment. You should be a proactive professional capable of working both as part of a team and unsupervised. This role is suitable for someone who has some laboratory experience and has gained qualifications in chemistry, and provides a lot of avenues for future progression.
Education: A degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Material Science, or a closely related scientific subject.
Technical Experience: Some prior formulation or laboratory experience is key (however this could be from an industrial placement, a graduate role, or a previous commercial position).
Skills: A hands-on approach to chemistry with the ability to provide effective instructions to the technical team and communicate efficiently with senior management. Strong base laboratory ‘bench’ skills (safe working, accuracy over repeated activities, strong communication).
Attributes: Punctual, accurate, and well-organised.
