You will lead a team of experienced managers across disciplines including General Toxicology, Safety Pharmacology, Inhalation, DART, and In Vitro Toxicology. Your responsibilities will include:

Strategic Leadership: Developing and implementing the tactical and long-range plans for the division, ensuring alignment with global corporate objectives.

Scientific Standard-Setting: Establishing the scientific direction for the site, representing the company at international meetings, and liaising with global peers across the broader company network.

Operational Management: Serving as a key member of the Edinburgh Leadership Team, overseeing recruitment, expenditure, and sales plans, while ensuring consistent decision-making across the site.

Client Advocacy: Acting as a high-level point of contact for clients, ensuring "Customer Care" is the top priority and that all safety assessment studies meet the highest quality standards.

People Development: Mentoring and managing a team of Directors and Managers, fostering a motivated culture where staff produce high-quality work and achieve genuine job satisfaction.

Commercial Oversight: Collaborating with the Finance Director to manage departmental budgets and monitor performance against challenging yet realistic targets.

Your background:

We are looking for an expert in the field with a track record of leading large, complex teams within a highly regulated environment.

Educational Foundation: A graduate with a higher degree (MSc/PhD) in a relevant discipline. Higher qualifications or certifications in Toxicology or Pathology are highly desirable.

Industry Expertise: Significant experience in regulatory safety assessment within the pharmaceutical or agrochemical sectors. Previous experience in a CRO or Biotech environment is strongly preferred.

Leadership Track Record: Demonstrable experience in line management, specifically managing other managers and leading matrix functions across different scientific disciplines.

Commercial Acumen: A proven ability to network with stakeholders, influence others, and understand the commercial drivers of the safety assessment industry.

Visionary Mindset: The independence of thought required to suggest fresh approaches and drive continuous improvement at both a local and global level.
