Instrument Assembly Technician

We are seeking an Assembly Technician to work in the final build out of precision chemical detection equipment.
This is a short term project and it requires skills in following instructions and some delicate work in putting hardware together.
We imagine someone with skills in fields like electronics, or whose hobbies are in areas like model building or the arts, and can follow hands-on processes to the letter will be skilled and able to carry out this role.
What you’ll do:
- Precision assembly of chemical detector units, this will involve soldering components, using hand tools and magnification conducting visual inspections.
- Component handling. Managing small components with care, and having awareness of electrostatic discharge sensitivities.
Your background:
- Experience in any area of assembly or other similar work. This can be from professional or hobbies (for example you might have a hobby like painting Warhammer figures or have other hobbies in the arts that need the same focus and attention to detail this role calls for).
- Soldering experience is advantageous
- Attention to detail, this will be following plans and checklists and a ‘right first time’ approach is called for.
- Reliability, we need people for a 2 week ‘sprint’ so full attendance is needed over the short period.
This is an opportunity for a technical or skilled hobbyist to work on a high tech project that will play a role in chemical detection. We would welcome applications from students who are available in this timescale.
