Product Application Chemist

We're seeking a Product Application Chemist to join in the new product development activities in our clients Technical team. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to product innovation in exciting product fields, enhance customer products capabilities, and provide expert technical support, helping clients achieve major goals through chemistry you have a key role developing.
This role principally has focus on formulation, and physical characterisation chemistry.
What You'll Do:
- Reporting to the Product Application Manager, you'll play a vital role in our client's technical innovation journey. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading technical projects focused on developing innovative new products, scaling these products up in a viable and sustainable manner with colleagues and clients
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of testing methodologies, product formulations, and technical documentation to boost efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Assisting with product management, ensuring the product range aligns seamlessly with evolving customer needs, market trends, and crucial sustainability goals.
- Providing essential technical support to the sales team, participating in customer meetings to understand challenges and identify impactful solutions that foster business growth.
- Helping to cultivate productive relationships with a network of external partners (e.g., suppliers, consultants, laboratories) to support ongoing technical advancement.
Your Background:
We're looking for a thorough, results-oriented individual with a strong scientific foundation and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A BSc in a Scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science).
- Experience in R&D, applications, or formulation within a relevant industry.
- Demonstrated analytical thinking, with the ability to break down complex problems and develop effective solutions.Formulation skills
- Rheology, particle sizing, and coating skills.
- A high degree of thoroughness, seeking completeness and accuracy in all tasks.A strong ability to learn quickly, understanding and applying new information, concepts, and strategies.
- Excellent results orientation, consistently focusing on key objectives and striving for effective outcomes.
- A proactive approach to critical information seeking from various sources to aid problem-solving.
- Clear demonstration of initiative, seizing opportunities to drive progress.
- A strong concern for impact, actively anticipating and responding to the needs of others.
Desirable:
- Project management experience or qualification.
- A higher-level degree (MSc/PhD) in a relevant scientific field, bringing deeper R&D experience and understanding of scientific techniques.
- Experience with pigment/dye dispersion.
- Experience of incorporating additives into products.
- Proficiency in rheology and particle size analysis.
