We’re working with a growing client who are seeking a committed and commercially driven Business Development Executive to join their growing team in Manchester.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual with experience in Business to Business "B2B" and/or Business to Customer "B2C" sales within the sciences, to contribute to the expansion of business across the UK and also international markets.

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will play a key role in driving sales performance and market presence by building strong relationships and identifying new business opportunities.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in life sciences and chemical sectors
  • Developing and executing strategies to acquire new clients and grow key accounts
  • Managing your sales pipeline using CRM systems for efficient tracking and follow-up
  • Leading client meetings to understand requirements and present tailored solutions
  • Preparing and delivering compelling sales presentations and proposals
  • Aligning products and services with the specific needs of prospective clients
  • Applying a consultative, solution-based approach to selling
  • Ensuring ease of trade by providing a seamless customer experience
  • Engaging with new or warm leads through calls, visits, and ongoing contact
  • Attending conferences, exhibitions, and client site visits (UK and international)
  • Meeting individual and team sales targets in a fast-paced environment
  • Producing reports to track progress and inform strategic decisions
  • Collaborating with internal teams to ensure successful execution of initiatives
  • Representing the company professionally in all customer interactions

Your Background

We are looking for someone who is proactive, analytical, and customer-focused, with the ability to convert opportunities into results.

Essential criteria:

  • Experience in B2B/B2C sales, ideally in life sciences, chemicals, or a related industry
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of market trends
  • Ability to manage and report on a sales pipeline using CRM software
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a results-driven mindset
  • Adaptability and a willingness to stay informed on industry developments
  • Confident working independently and within cross-functional teams

Desirable:

  • Degree in life sciences (e.g. biology, biochemistry, pharmacology), chemistry, business, or a related field
  • Additional European language skills to support international growth
