On behalf of our client a leading fine chemicals company in Manchester, we are hiring for a Head of Sales. The company is one of the best known chemical companies in the UK and this is an opportunity to continue their success story.


What you’ll do:


The role will focus on leading the Business Development and Customer centric activities in the business. This will see you take responsibility for a multi-million sales budget, developing strategy and maximising sales growth to achieve targets.


  • Devising and reviewing sales budgets, developing strategy to maximise sales growth and reach profit targets


  • Development of the sales department. Recruitment of team members, and maintaining a motivated team with best departmental procedures and policies practices.


  • Development of relationships with clients both existing and new, pro active business development and management of key accounts along with regular direct communication and site visits.


  • Representation of the business at trade fairs and networking events


  • Key project management, assisting the department where necessary in tasks such as order processing


  • Ensuring the customer service team are provided excellent levels of service via daily delegation and weekly review


  • Identification of new business development opportunities through spotting new and emerging markets, realising new products and service areas and identifying opportunities for expansion


  • Providing performance, budget and KPI updates, reporting and presenting to C-level and Management


  • Updates to sales forecasts and plans, monthly and quarterly reporting


  • Initiating and developing plans with marketing to increase brand profile


The successful candidate will have:


  • Science based degree and previous chemical sales experience


  • High level of knowledge of products and services within the fine chemical industry. Multi-year experience of sales.


  • Strategic thinking, organisational and time management skills. Experience of achieving results through team activities working under your leadership.


  • Delegation and prioritisation skills


  • Ability to convey encouragement and positivity to others, mitigate issues and spot any problems early
