Research and Development (R&D) Chemist

Standish, Wigan

£11.11 per hour (equivalent c£22,000)


We are currently working with a highly awarded resin manufacturer in Wigan, who develop and manufacture resin for a wide range of purposes to a large scale. They are looking for a Research and Development (R&D) chemist to batch manufacture products and undertake experimental work within the lab.

The role has working hours of 8am – 4:30pm, 8 hours will be paid at basic rate of £11.11/hour, any overtime will be paid at £16.66/hour, with guaranteed overtime of 2.5 hours a week. After 3 months, £83.33 loyalty bonus will be awarded per month.

What you’ll do:

As Research and Development (R&D) Chemist you will perform a variety of tasks, including:
• Testing and evaluating raw materials and competitor products.
• Preparing samples for the laboratory and dispatch.
• Recording process information regularly and clearly and generating reports as requested.
• Supporting Quality Assurance issues in relation to complains, rework, incidents and rejects.
• Providing support for the production and QC teams
• Reporting incidents to management via the appropriate reporting systems that are in place.

Your background:

This role is suitable for a graduate and the ideal candidate will be qualified to degree level or equivalent in Chemistry, or a related subject, and completed laboratory work involving handling volatile chemicals in a safe manner. 

Experience working in regulated environments (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) would be advantageous in this role as is experience in a COMAH site.

The successful candidate will be willing to learn the on-site processes and comply with safety regulations, as volatile chemicals are used, and this is an important aspect of the role. Full training will be provided for the successful candidate.
