Return and Service Manager

This role exists to provide in depth information on components in scientific instrumentation, specifically spectrometer systems. The incumbent will find root causes of issues with specific components.
What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Head of Production and Service, you will be working on high speed electronics and figuring out root causes of issues. This will lead to reports being generated and provided to customers, writing 4D and 8D reports.
You will use diagnostics and troubleshooting tools to identify issues. These will be borne of optic, electronic and mechanical parts that make up a Fourier Transform, UV-Vis, Raman, and Optical spectrometers as well as components the company manufactures.
You will be reading following and test instructions of these spectrometry products, using electronic tools such as soldering, multimeters, oscilloscopes to assemble and analyse, and also applying information technology / PC knowledge.
Software knowledge will be applied also to this as needed as well as using the application software. You will provide insight into issues and work with the wider team in identifying solutions.
You will have a degree in Electrical Engineering and knowledge of handling and troubleshooting optical electronic and mechanical parts. Ideally you will already have a good knowledge of spectrometer systems, we are also keen to hear from individuals who have worked in other instrumentation fields.
You will have a good knowledge of board and component level servicing and troubleshooting and be keen to apply this and build on the knowledge you have to truly specialise in this field. You will contribute to the companies successes in a very tangible way and allow them to produce the best spectrometer systems for the market.
