Job Description

We are hiring for an experienced synthetic organic chemist for our client in Manchester. We’re seeking someone who can join with a strong background in synthetic organic chemistry to work in a dedicated Kilo (Kg) synthesis area of their operations. Our client is a successful and well established chemical company with a multinational footprint. This is a permanent role and calls for an individual qualified to degree or higher.

What you’ll do

You will be responsible for executing defined synthetic organic chemistry related projects, at kilo scale. This will involve working with colleagues in project management, feeding information into their customer interactions, working to agreed timelines and deadlines and working in a very self-directed manner in terms of your time and resource management, with accountability to senior management.

You will be focussed primarily on projects related to scale up of synthesis processes, gram-to-kilo / working on kilo-to-pilot (in conjunction with production). This will involve a variety of chemical reaction processes depending on the project with inherent challenges in scale up of processes from small to large. Much of this work will be pre defined by Project Chemists and hence this role is suitable for someone who knows this area i.e. has worked in a kilo lab for maybe a year in industry or happens to be experienced in this field from their ongoing career.

Your background

You will be qualified to BSc, MChem, MSc or perhaps higher. We are ideally seeking someone who can bring experience of working in a synthesis laboratory and following SOP’s and working to COSHH for example.

On this occasion, LiCa Scientific is acting as an employment agency. To apply, please email admin@licasci.com or call 0161 443 4173 if you have informal questions ahead of application.
