Job Description
We are hiring for a Process Safety Chemist for our client in Manchester. The salary is competitive, dependant on the experience of the successful applicant.
What you’ll do:
You’ll be using various Hazards safety equipment to analyse synthetic chemical processes to ensure safety during scale-up from lab to plant – from mg to kg and full plant process evaluation. Measurements including reaction rates, gas evolution measurement, on-set temperature for the reactions and pressure generated. The Hazards laboratory houses various pieces of equipment including DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry), TGA (Thermogravimetric Analysis) and equipment for Thermal Hazards Evaluation from HEL.
Your background:
You will have a background in chemistry, chemical engineering or process engineering (BSc, BEng, MChem, MEng or PhD) and with understanding of physical chemistry (reaction rates, thermodynamics). Experience in a similar role would be advantageous but not essential. A Chemical Engineer or Chemistry graduates who have studied process safety or process modules during their course would be of significant interest. As would individuals with working experience in these areas.
